Very impressive everyday useable armoured scout vehicle, that swims as well! These now tend to be used by special security forces or riot control. I saw one parked outside Prague international airport during the summer when security level was very high. I did try to film, but they were not impressed, instead they threatened me with a free ride to their security office.

Whats more intriguing about these BRDM's is they have a lower under carriage, this was a bit of a whacky way of improving mobility across country. There are arguments as to whether it helps a great deal. But its impressive.

The Gaz V8 cyl engine is extremely reliable. A bit different to some of our military engines we've used in the past. When I first started out in this trade many years ago, we fitted the XK engine in quite a few military vehicles, when I got told about this I was amazed. Of course they are always falling apart more often than our RAF transport planes.

How often do you see adverts for new J60 engines. They're everywhere. Does that tell you something?
