BMP-1 & OT90 click below for actual films

NEW PICTURES!

Wow. Every now and then some amazing deals come along, the problem is they are snapped up amazingly quick.

Hats the difference? basically the weapon, nearly everything else is identical. The Czechs spent daft amounts of money overhauling all there OT90's, 225,000 euro's on each, then due to them looking west disposed of them. Absolutely mad I know, but hey. They are now available for second hand car money, to drive they are amazing fun. Inside everything is new, right down to the wax paper around the lights, exhaust ports etc.

You can compare the BMP-OT90, I suppose to our FV432, but are not prone to bending rear idler wheels like they are. You ask anyone who operates a FV432, and if he's honest. He'll say for every one hour of use, you spend on average 3 hours maintenance. BMP's or BVP's (Czech version) are easier to maintain. In effect you are buying a newly refurbished tracked APV.

Please don't ask for BMP-2's, Yes I can get them, but you will need to sell your house first. Tanks or APC's are bought in bundles by countries and there first concerned besides condition is the weapon. The OT-90 has better ride qualities, shock absorbers are fitted on both the first and second track wheels compared to only one on the BMP1/2.

HISTORY

Developed in the early 1960's to replace the aging BTR 50P's. Launched in 1967, they caused quite a stir. Fitted with 73mm low velocity magazine fed cannon. This unfortunately wasn't as effective as it looked, and was replaced on the later BMP-2.

There are loads of BMP variants, they were the main fighting unit in the Iran-Iraq war, along with of course Afghanistan, Chad and Angola.

The track design will enable conversion to rubber track, but it won't be cheap. Estimate another £8k. Unfortunately its not like fitting a tyre, each track has to be drilled and reverse recessed, but once done. With that big cannon, this toy would look quite impressive driving down Oxford Street.
